The developers of Destiny 2 have been working hard, and they recently published a fresh hotfix that includes numerous updates and bug fixes for the game. This update should address some of the issues that players of Destiny 2 have been having with certain activities.

After Destiny 2’s 2017 release, many Bungie fans have been playing the game and revelling in the action-packed adventure it offers. Players in Destiny 2 have access to a variety of activities, weekly tasks, community events, rare stuff, cosmetic items, sophisticated weapons, and customization options. Even though Destiny 2 has been available for a while, its creators are constantly working to add new content. Most recently, the team revealed the new weekly challenges for Destiny 2, giving players yet another incentive to keep playing.
Destiny 2 Hotfix
The developer of Destiny 2 released a fresh update on April 9 that addressed several problems players have been experiencing for some time. According to Bungie’s Hotfix 7.0.5.3, the company made a few adjustments to a few game features and in-game activities. A shotgun bug that allowed huge damage output while switching from a Slug Shotgun to another shotgun has been repaired. The devs have made a patch addressing shotguns in addition to this update. The time it takes to discharge a weapon after switching to it from the inventory screen is two seconds. The game’s creators have made great strides, and lately Bungie defeated cheaters, hopefully reducing the amount of cheating during play sessions.

This appears to be a temporary workaround to this shotgun issue, according to several gamers in the Destiny 2 subreddit, and may show that Bungie should develop another bug fix. The creator of Destiny 2 paid attention to the game’s activities as well, implementing a few problem fixes. Bungie also disclosed some Destiny 2 modifications coming in Season 21, albeit this is not the only update the developer has made to the game.
Many Destiny 2 gamers should experience a more balanced game with this update. These adjustments might appear insignificant to some players, but for Destiny 2 users, any resolution to the existing problems will significantly enhance the gameplay. Although Destiny 2 is not in a bad place, some players are constantly considering new methods to make the game better. Fortunately for them, the game’s creator is making an effort to enhance what it has to offer.
Destiny 2 Hotfix 7.0.5.3 Patch Notes
On May 9, 2023, Bungie released Destiny 2 Hotfix 7.0.5.3 and the related patch notes. The hotfix focuses on a few issues, but the Shotgun bug is the most significant one. Players who switched from a Slug Shotgun to another Shotgun may have discovered that their damage was absurdly (and accidentally) increased for a short while following the switch. After swapping, Shotguns should function as intended because the bug has been fixed. The remaining notes are listed below:
Activities
Nightfall
- Reverted the change that removed the third Refraction Core in Heist Battlegrounds.
- Fixed an issue where previously defeated enemies and Champions are respawning if players wipe in the Lake of Shadows boss room.
Guardian Games
- Fixed an issue where the normal matchmaking options for Supremacy were missing their descriptions.
- Fixed an issue where the Heir Apparent quest and catalyst are not progressing via most main Medallion sources.
- Fixed an issue where the Fly the Flag bounty is taking much longer than intended to complete.
- Fixed an issue where the Champ Seal was not able to be gilded.
Gameplay and Investment
Weapons
- Fixed an issue where swapping from a Slug Shotgun to another Shotgun could allow massive damage output.
- There is now a two-second window where a weapon cannot be fired after swapping to it from the inventory screen.
- Fixed an issue where Enhanced Eager Edge perk would deactivate earlier than intended.

Destiny 2 Bug Fix in Update
However, a significant adjustment to Destiny’s gameplay loop will prove to be a game-changer, especially for dedicated guardians pursuing Grandmaster Nightfalls or the challenge of a solo clear; after switching out your arsenal, guns will now have a two-second window during which they cannot be fired in an effort to fix one broken interaction.

Even if a player’s alternate loadout contains the same weapons, this modification applies to players who swap load-outs via the Loadout Swap screen and will have an impact on all loaded firearms, regardless of whether they are main, special, or heavy weapons.
The Fourth Horseman Exotic shotgun and Pinpoint Slug inherent shotguns are the main targets of the bugfix. In recent weeks, the hack allowed Destiny 2 players to switch to the Fourth Horseman, bring out any Pinpoint Slug shotgun, then stow it away once more, and deliver absurd amounts of damage.
Gladd, a well-known Destiny broadcaster, gave the patch a harsh review once the news broke. The modification, according to him, is “one of the worst band-aid fixes [he] had ever seen in Destiny.” His opinion was shared by other players, who saw this upgrade as a fatal blow to the community’s speedrunning and solo content sections.
