Upon entering the Institute Dormitories, your first task is to locate an Ousia Block at the far end of the room. This block holds the key to unlocking the Anchor.
2. Activating the Research Terminal:
Head back to the entrance and find the Pneuma-aligned Fixed Storage Device. By activating this device, you’ll bring the Research Terminal to life. Alternatively, if you possess Ousia Arkhe, you can use it in place of the Ousia Block. Lynette’s Skill is also a viable option for this step and is available as a free character in Genshin Impact.
3. Opening the Door:
Once you’ve successfully activated the Research Terminal, the door to the Anchor’s location will swing open. It’s time to move on to the next step.
4. Energy Transfer Device:
Within the room, you’ll spot the Energy Transfer Device. Pick it up and place it strategically in front of the Research Terminal near the door.
5. Energy Transfer Terminal:
Now, venture deeper into the room and activate the Energy Transfer Terminal. This action will change your perspective, providing a camera-like view of the room.
6. Transferring the Energy:
While in this camera view, aim your crosshair at the activated (blue) Fixed Storage Device and press the action button to transfer the Energy. Next, direct your crosshair toward the red Energy Transfer Device and repeat the action to move the Energy into it.
7. Activating the Energy Transfer Device:
Once the Energy Transfer Device is illuminated in blue, pick it up again. Move it closer to the Research Terminal near the gate and initiate the mechanism to open the door. Congratulations! You’ve successfully retrieved the first Anchor required for the Fontaine Research Institute Chronicles quest in Genshin Impact.
Retrieving the Anchor in the Institute of Clockwork Applications

After Nacker opens the door, enter the Institute of Clockwork Applications. Here, you’ll encounter two formidable foes known as Mekas. Defeat them to unseal the Energy Transfer Terminal.

Before activating the Terminal, take note of a rock boulder tucked away in a corner of the room. Destroy this boulder to reveal a Fixed Storage Device. Similar to the previous step, use the Ousia Block on the wall to activate it and change its color from red to blue.
3. Initiating the Energy Transfer:
Now, activate the Energy Transfer Terminal, and adjust your perspective by aiming the crosshair at the Terminal situated on the right side of the room. This will give you a different camera view.
4. Coordinating the Transfer:
With your new view, retrieve the Energy from the Fixed Storage Device. Then, direct your crosshair at the Terminal positioned under the Ousia Block to change the camera view once more. Finally, employ the action button on the red Fixed Storage Device to activate the Research Terminal, granting access to the Anchor’s location.
