Nintendo’s eagerly awaited “Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom” release is less than two weeks away. Yet leaks have already appeared on Discord, Reddit, and even the image-hosting website Imgur. Naturally, if you’ve been eagerly anticipating the game, you might want to avoid social media to avoid spoilers. Which are currently circulating online in the form of screenshots, cutscenes, and brief gameplay footage.

More than one person obtained an original copy of the upcoming game. According to one massive Reddit thread describing the leak. It’s posted 15-second clips online. Additionally, it appears that the leaked video was streamed on Discord. As nearly 1,000 people joined the stream after invitations spread online. According to one of the admins, the footage would shortly be posted to a number of unspecified file-sharing websites.
Nintendo’s forthcoming game, the follow-up to “Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild”. It will be available for pre-order starting in February and will be released globally on May 12. In the interim, the best course of action, if you want to avoid spoilers, is to mute or block words like “Legend of Zelda,” “Tears of the Kingdom,” “TOTK,” and even some of the names of significant characters on social networking platforms.
Again, leaks ruin Nintendo’s Party!
Tears of the Kingdom was a popular target for leakers. Considering it was Nintendo’s largest game of the year and perhaps one of the biggest games on the Nintendo Switch. Nintendo’s meticulous and thoughtful marketing for the game. Which appears to have held back a lot of information for players to find themselves, has only served to worsen the spoiler problem.

Additionally, this is not the first time information about Tears of the Kingdom has surfaced online. A full art book, from cover to cover, was released online back in February. It contained information on numerous characters, weapons, and gameplay elements that have not yet been publicly announced.
Some leaks from the upcoming Zelda sequel appeared on social media. Over the weekend as a result of some players getting their hands on an early copy. Reddit received screenshots and gameplay videos, which were then compiled in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom Leak Reddit mega-thread. Once more, if you want to avoid spoilers, you might be best off avoiding this thread.
Reddit Recent Leaks
Recently, from a Reddit user post, we got a Timeline of Events, which is given below:
- A day before, a user on Mercari was selling physical copies of the game. They managed to ship out a few before it was shut down.
- One or more people had the physical game cart. It’s not known if it’s the same buyers from Mercari or from another source entirely. One of them posted a 15 Second video clip of the beginning area a few hours before this post was made.
- About 20 minutes before this post was made, someone had dumped the XCI from a physical cart and was streaming it on Discord on a Switch emulator.
- Invites were shared to this Discord server to the point the stream crashed. About 1000 people were watching the stream.
- Invites were then disabled and a Tortoise Admin on the discord stated that they are uploading the leak to various filesharing websites.
- Can confirm that the game is now out in the wild and can be played via Emulation or CFW Switch judging by the fact that people are even streaming it.
Tears of the Kingdom, on the other hand, is a Switch-only game and, as such, cannot be emulated through CEMU. As most of you will know, the game’s prequel, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, has become one of the most emulated Nintendo titles on PC, with players applying a multitude of mods to make the game pure eye candy.
Nintendo on Legend of Zelda
That set of leaks set Nintendo off, who subsequently started taking legal action to have the leaks removed from Discord. Despite their removal, Nintendo has since started closing in on the leaker, requesting the name, address, telephone number, and email address of the user who initially posted the leaks from Discord.
Gamers may emulate Switch games on PC using the well-liked Yuzu and Ryujinx emulators. And it appears that some gamers have Breath of the Wild 2 running on PC. It has become customary with new Switch games, but it still astounds me how quickly players can emulate a game that hasn’t even been released. As would be expected, PC performance is still far from ideal, but from what we’ve observed, some gamers are already using the Ryujinx emulator to play the game at 60 frames per second (FPS).

One of the most active businesses in the sector is Nintendo. For years, even uploading their games on YouTube was challenging. The business has a reputation for operating differently than most, but regardless of who is behind the operation, releasing content before its time is a terrible sin.
Latest Price of the Game
Nintendo has been known to leak some details about the game early too, as was seen when a price hike for the game was leaked on the eShop. At $69.99, Tears of the Kingdom will be the first and so far only first-party game to be released at a price higher than $60 in the US.
You should take precautions to keep yourself safe while dealing with leaked information for any game, including Tears of the Kingdom. When the game launches on physical and digital shelves, muting words like the game’s name, acronyms, character names, and other related words will help prevent you from going in blind. Additionally, you should stay away from social media comment threads and game-related articles. You should stay away from anything associated with Zelda or Nintendo, even if it is unrelated. Videos that are recommended on YouTube’s front page might have information about this situation that could also ruin things.
On May 12, 2023, The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom will be released for the Nintendo Switch.
