Redfall can be compared to Back 4 Blood multiplayer action with Deathloop’s abilities and idiosyncrasies, but it also appears to be a game that should be assessed on its own merits.

Four players will battle a variety of vampires in Redfall’s deceptively peaceful title town.
Sorry, PS5 Fans; it will be available on Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, Windows PC, and Xbox Game Pass on the first day of release, making it relatively exclusive.
Here is everything we currently know about Redfall, though we anticipate learning a lot more in the upcoming months.
Redfall Release Date
Redfall was initially planned to be launched in the summer of 2022, but Bethesda and Arkane decided to postpone it because they needed more time to finish the game. The new release date for Redfall is May 2, 2023.

Redfall was one of the featured titles in Microsoft’s first Xbox Developer Direct demo, where this specific release date was announced. The game was also shown out during the Xbox & Bethesda Games Showcase 2022 the previous year. Now that we’ve seen a good bit of gameplay, we can’t wait to play the game when it’s out in less than two months.
Redfall Trailer
There are a lot of videos describing different aspects of Redfall on Bethesda’s YouTube channel(opens in a new tab). However, a 10-minute gameplay video that takes a deep dive into how Redfall will play is currently the most compelling. Look at it up there.
Redfall Gameplay
Additionally, it appears to combine the Left 4 Dead survival shooter action with a story that has players investigate what went wrong on the island of Redfall.

Players will have the option of doing this alone or with a group of other players. Additionally, every character that a player can assume has a variety of skills and abilities, some of which seem to have been taken directly from Dishonoured. Oh, and anticipate a tonne more weapons as well, many of which will likely be upgradeable and modifiable.
Players will require these weapons, tools, and abilities because they will face a variety of foes, from common human cultists to swift and dangerous vampires.
As a result, this won’t be another Back 4 Blood knockoff; instead, it’ll probably be completely different with a focus on sneaking through difficult situations rather than charging in headfirst.
Redfall Characters
Devinder Crousley, Layla Ellison, Jacob Boyer, and Remi De La Rosa are the four selectable characters who are first introduced to us in the Redfall teaser. Each character will have a distinct personality and unique combat skills.

Remi can control a robot companion, and Layla has telekinetic abilities, among other unusual abilities. Finding the one that best suits your playstyle will be a lot of fun because it appears that each character will play very differently from the others.
We also take a peek at some of Redfall’s bad guys. These include super-strong vampires, as well as a group of people who practise nighttime deities, worship. In order to live till daybreak, our brave four will have to fight both.
With regard to the game’s setting, the Redfall website also fills in some of the gaps. The world of Redfall is one in which vampires were unintentionally produced by a botched research experiment. Expect to be pursued by numerous classes of bloodsuckers as these creatures continue to evolve.
There is perpetual night in a small Massachusetts town because these ex-humans have isolated the island and blocked out the sun. It will be up to you and your co-op teammates to stop the Redfall from being completely drained.
Redfall Xbox and PC Exclusivity
When Microsoft acquired ZeniMax in 2020 and subsequently acquired Bethesda and Arkane, it appeared that Redfall on the PS5 was doomed.
Redfall did, however, have a PS5 version in development, but it was later abandoned. Harvey Smith of Arkane said in an interview with IGN France (opens in new tab): “We got bought by Microsoft and that was a tremendous sea change. No PlayStation 5, they replied. We’ll now work on Game Pass, Xbox, and PC.
Redfall won’t be available for the PS5, unlike Arkane’s previous title Deathloop. And that might provide you with one good incentive to get an Xbox or a potent gaming PC.

Redfall Performance Issues
The announcement by Bethesda that Redfall will be restricted to 30 frames per second when it comes on Xbox Series X is a little unexpected. Although it will be rendered in 4K rather than the Xbox Series S’s 1440p, it won’t be able to maintain the smooth 60 frames per second that we’ve grown accustomed to from first-person shooters.

As a post-launch update, a “Performance mode” with 60 frames per second is expected. However, it’s somewhat perplexing why this wouldn’t be offered at launch.
Faster frame rates are basically essential for guaranteeing that you can quickly take out targets and move about venues in fast-paced games. In contrast, 30 fps can appear slow.
It might be possible to mitigate the lack of a 60 fps mode at launch if developer Arkane can guarantee that the frame pacing in the 30 fps mode is really reliable. But since we won’t know for sure, it might turn out that playing Redfall on one of the best gaming PCs is the best course of action.
The developer Arkane has confirmed that Redfall will support cross-platform play, which is really good news. So you can play with your friends whether you’re using Xbox or PC (via Game Pass, Steam, or Epic Game Store). Additionally, this should support maintaining a strong player base for Redfall even months after the game’s release.
Redfall has a lot going for it because of its eccentric personalities and somewhat novel enemy kinds. Expectations for Redfall are high because Arkane is one of the gaming community’s most adored creators, and because of this, it’s only fair given its background.
